Secret garden paradise in Nürtingen: Discover the beauties!

As part of the popular “Open Gardens” campaign, numerous private gardens open their doors to visitors. The teaching and experimental garden of the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Economics and Environment also invites you to discover the diverse plants and design options next Sunday, June 8, 2025. This special garden is a true gem that has existed for almost 40 years and enchants its visitors on two hectares.

As ntz.de reports, the garden, designed by Prof. Klaus Eberhardt, is particularly known for its perennial planting stations. The different types of planting such as drift planting, block planting, mixed planting and scattered planting make the garden an exciting experience for plant lovers.

Special features of the teaching and experimental garden

The Braike teaching and experimental garden not only offers impressive flora, but also has a natural pond and an inviting stream. Thematic plantings, including “perennials and roses” and “grey-leaved plants”, show the diversity of garden art. The main paths are wheelchair accessible, while some of the side paths have stairs. A toilet is available, but not barrier-free. Visitors can visit the garden from April to October on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on the first and third Sundays of the month from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free, but a donation to support the “Open Gardens” campaign is requested.

There are several options available for getting there: Drivers can reach the garden via the A8 motorway, while public transport also offers uncomplicated connections. The Schelmenwasen stop is right in front of the campus, which makes the visit particularly pleasant, as offenegaerten-esslingen.de highlights.
