Since its opening in September 2023, the Köngen pump track has developed into a popular leisure activity for all age groups. The modern leisure facility, which is located near the Burgforum multi-generational center, primarily attracts families and athletes from the greater Stuttgart area. During the day, the pump track, which has two circuits, is very busy and offers a wide range of activities for cyclists, skaters, inline skaters and even small children on balance bikes. The facility has quickly become an attraction that is busy from morning to evening. Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports that the neighboring Burgschule even uses the pump track for physical education lessons.
A special feature of the leisure facility is the commitment of a volunteer team that coordinates the operation of the pump track. This team consists of four young people: Jakob Kalesch, Lukas Holder, Lenn Ertinger and Diego Hauschild. You are part of a group of ten people that takes care of the rental of scooters, BMX bikes, dirt bikes, skateboards, unicycles and protective equipment. This rental is free and is aimed at young and old athletes who use the pump track.
Volunteering
All team members are under 18 years old and work during the opening hours of the Trafo youth center. Important attention is paid to safety: the team ensures that helmet requirements are complied with and carries out minor repairs on the rental vehicles. This responsibility shows the commitment of the young people who were previously active on the dirt track in Unterensingen. This means they have experience that they can now bring into the new system.
New rumors surrounding the pump track show that the leisure facility is important not only for the current generation of athletes, but also for future users. The coordination of activities and exchange within the team takes place via a Whatsapp group, which enables flexible communication. In this context, Esslinger Zeitung highlighted that the pump track became an integral part of the leisure activities in Köngen shortly after its opening.
Overall, the development of the Köngen pump track shows how important such leisure facilities are for the community. They not only promote young people's sporting ability, but also strengthen social cohesion in the community. When the weather is good, the pump track is a particularly popular meeting place that brings energy and joy to the hearts of its visitors.
