SCANDALOUS CHANGE OF PASTOR: Tobias Freff leaves Ostalb for Esslingen!

What a SHOCKING turnaround in the Catholic Church! Pastor Tobias Freff, the shining star of the pastoral care unit “Unterm Bernhardus”, is leaving the familiar realms of the Ostalb and surprisingly moving to Esslingen-Nürtingen! This dramatic move will surprise everyone who relies on Freff's powerful pastoral care. Where will this charismatic priest who grew up in Wangen now influence the souls of believers? His new field of activity includes the communities of “St. Kolumban” in Wendlingen-Unterboihingen and “Zum Guten Hirten” in Köngen and Unterensingen. However, the exact timing of the change remains shrouded in mystery, and the tension is high!

Freff, who has been the head pastor of one of the largest pastoral care units in all of Germany since 2015, was a kind of pillar of light for the more than 7,200 Catholics in Bettringen, Bargau and Weiler with Degenfeld. His ability to bring the “big picture” together and harness the hidden talents of his community promised an ever deeper connection with people. But now he is faced with the challenge of the new – will he be able to implement his visions in the new communities?

The HUGE significance of his move!

This fascinating change of priests is accompanied by a huge discussion about the regulations regarding the transfer of priests. In a world where the church is facing a dramatic priest shortage, pastors are often moved after 10 to 15 years in their positions to bring a breath of fresh air to communities. What is shocking is that such changes often lead to heated debates, contrary to the usual stability anchored in canon law. So is there a deeper reason for Freff's sudden decision, or is it more the rules that made him change his mind?

In 2018, the German Bishops' Conference created the possibility of appointing pastors for fixed periods of time. A fact that casts a shadow over the bishops' decisions and puts the congregations in turmoil. Temporary appointments make transfers easier and make the already turbulent situation in many communities even more exciting!

Freff's eventful past!

Tobias Freff, who was based at the Ambrosianum Theological Pre-Seminar in Ehingen from 2002 to 2003, has long since made a name for himself in the church. With years of study in Tübingen and Rome, followed by ordination to the priesthood in 2010, he laid the foundations for his outstanding career. His time as Episcopal Secretary from 2012 to 2015 further strengthened his relationship-building skills. This educated and passionate priest is desperately needed in his new communities!

Freff, who has often been used to new challenges throughout his career, is now on the threshold of another exciting phase. As he looks for future hopefuls in the church and wants to promote exchange with young people, he will certainly find enthusiastic followers and also critical voices. How will the transition be? Will he be able to continue his mission or will he have to redefine it?

Congregations' eyes are now on the new pastor as audios and speculations about his move do the rounds. The pastor who seeks both stability and flexibility! How will the story develop further? Stay tuned for more sensational reports!
