New VVS-Rider starts: flexible and environmentally friendly in Wendlingen!

From July 2025, the VVS-Rider will fundamentally change local transport in Wendlingen, Köngen, Unterensingen, Oberboihingen and Nürtingen. According to ntz.de , the VVS-Rider replaces parts of regular line traffic, especially in the evening and on weekends. Trips can be booked conveniently via the app or by phone, whereby the system is based on a flexible on-demand principle, without a fixed timetable.

The Friedrich Müller Omnibus company (FMO) took over the management of bus traffic in the region on July 1, 2025 and introduces the new “Linienbündel 6”. This brings with it some important changes for passengers, including the introduction of 1200 virtual stops at which the passengers can be picked up.

extensions in the district of Ludwigsburg

Already on August 4, 2024, the VVS rider will start in six municipalities in the Ludwigsburg district. The cities of Besigheim, Kirchheim am Neckar, Walheim, Gemmrigheim, Bietigheim-Bissingen and Tamm benefit from this new on-demand service. This is also operated by the FMO and offers passengers a flexible mobility solution that works without a fixed timetable, such as vvs.de emphasized.

In the municipalities of Kirchheim, Gemmrigheim, Besigheim and Walheim, the service is offered Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends and public holidays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. In Bietigheim-Bissingen and Tamm, the VVS rider is in use from Friday to Saturday and on public holidays between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The entire system comprises around 3,800 virtual stops, which increases the flexibility and accessibility of the offer.

functionality of the VVS-Rider

The trips are booked via the free "VVS-Rider" or via phone. The bus collects passengers with similar routes and brings them directly to their destination. The pick-up and deduction points are displayed in the app so that the users are always in the picture. The offer complements existing regular buses and can only be used if no regular regular bus runs.

Another advantage for users is that the VVS tariff applies to the owner of a VVS subscription, Germany tickets or daily and individual tickets at no additional cost. The app also has access to the Stuttgart on-demand shuttle "SSB Flex", which means that passengers also benefit from an integrated mobility concept. The aim of the VVS-Rider is to promote environmentally friendly and flexible mobility and thus make public transport more attractive.
