Insect-friendly plants for balconies and gardens
Spring is traditionally an ideal time for planting on balconies and gardens. How on Live Life Green noted, when choosing plants, gardeners should pay attention to attractive and easy-care plants that are also insect-friendly. Many different options are recommended, from ornamental grasses to container plants, available at discount stores, hardware stores and garden centers.
While bright red geraniums are known as traditional balcony plants, it should be noted that not all popular plants are suitable as a food source for insects. Many do not provide nectar or pollen, such as double cultivated flowers or hydrangeas. In order to combat the death of insects, insect-friendly plants should be planted.
In addition, it is important to choose early bloomers that will also provide food in spring when resources are scarce. Recommended species include:
- Wildrosen (ungefüllte Blüten)
- Schneeglöckchen
- Krokusse
- Wandelröschen
- Lavendel
- Kapuzinerkresse
- Rosmarin
These activities not only strengthen the community but also promote awareness of nature conservation. Kirchheim becomes a little greener with every blossom!
