Digital revolution for daycare centers: Kirchheim launches Stay Informed” app!

The city of Kirchheim unter Teck has made significant progress in the digitization of its daycare centers in recent months. One of the central innovations is the introduction of the “Stay Informed” app, which has been used across the board in daycare centers since the beginning of 2025. The application has been tested in selected facilities since 2022 and has proven to be useful. The aim of the app is to optimize communication between daycare centers and parents and to digitally map organizational processes, reports Kirchheim unter Teck.

The app replaces the previous paper form of parent communication with a central, digital platform. Features include, but are not limited to:

• Direkte Kommunikation mit Eltern: Wichtige Nachrichten und Erinnerungen können gezielt verschickt werden.
• Kalender und Terminplanung für Ausflüge, Veranstaltungen und Schließtage.
• Übersetzungsfunktion, die Nachrichten in über 25 Sprachen übersetzt.
• Digitale Elternbriefe, die sicherstellen, dass Mitteilungen nicht verloren gehen.
• Meldung von Abwesenheiten wie Krankmeldungen oder Urlaubsanträgen über die App.
• Digitale Check-In/Check-Out-Funktion zur Erfassung der Ankunfts- und Abholzeiten der Kinder.
• Rückmeldungen mit digitaler Unterschrift für Einladungen oder Anträge werden ebenfalls direkt in der App ermöglicht.

Increased efficiency through digital processes

In addition to the introduction of the “Stay Informed” app, the city administration introduced the Kita-Data-Webhouse online reservation system on February 16, 2025. This system aims to centralize and simplify registration for crèche and kindergarten places. Parents now have the opportunity to register their children for the institutions of their choice online. This makes the registration process more efficient and significantly reduces the administrative effort. The new system gives parents a transparent overview of the available childcare places, which enables needs-based planning.
