On May 24, 2025, the main street in Meckenheim in the Palatinate was the scene of a serious traffic accident that caused extensive property damage. At around 1:35 p.m., a car drove unrestrained from the center of the town in the direction of Hochdorf-Assenheim and crashed directly into a car parked on the side of the road. The force of the impact lifted the vehicle causing the collision onto the parked car, which was then pushed onto another vehicle. Fortunately, there were no injuries in this incident.
The main road had to be closed for around an hour and a half while the accident was recorded and the vehicles were recovered. The car involved that caused the accident had to be professionally recovered due to an electric drive. The exact cause of the accident is still unknown, which complicates the investigation by the Haßloch police station.
