The district game festival offers an exciting platform for young handball talents and took place on July 2, 2025 in the Kirchheimer Stadium. The event was organized by VfL Kirchheim , which was raised numerous D youth teams. A total of 20 teams with around 300 children and their supervisors took part in the festival, including well -known clubs such as TSV Grabenstetten, SG Untere Fils and TSV Deizisau.
The newly formed handball district Neckar-Alb presented exciting competitions in handball, athletics disciplines and a colorful program of muses. In the overall ranking, VfL Kirchheim cut off really well and took second place, while TSV Deizisau emerged as the overall winner of the festival. The second team of VfL also successfully completed the event and reached seventh place, with the 2014 vintage being strongly represented.

The event was only possible through the commitment of over 100 volunteers who came from the ranks of the Kirchheim handball, but also belonged to parents and youth players. Their tasks included ensuring fair games, the provision of cool drinks and comprehensive catering for the participants. Referees were provided from the participating clubs and by Kirchheimer Jung-Schiris.
The department head of the handball department, Hannah Pegios, was pleased with the course of the festival and the positive echo. She emphasized: "We enabled the children to have a great handball weekend." This feedback illustrates the commitment of the organizers and the sporting coexistence of the young people in the region.

Another highlight for handball enthusiasts will be on 28th and 29th June 2025 in Köngen, where the next district game festival will take place. The organizer is the TSV Köngen , which builds on the successful implementation of last year. A total of 30 mixed D-youth teams from the Neckar-Alb district are expected at the artificial turf pitch in the Fuchsgrube stadium.
The disciplines also include a athletics triumphal and skill games. The placements in the handball tournament are crucial for league membership in the 2025/2026 season. There is a trip to the "Day of Handball" in the Tripsdrill adventure park for the overall winner of all disciplines.
The catering of the teams takes place in the adjacent Burgforum, and the Fuchs mine hall also offers a selection of food and drinks. The teams are taken care of overnight stays, while in bad weather the games in the sports hall Burgschule or the Fuchsgrubenhalle are played.
The preparations for these events show the tireless commitment of the clubs in handball and at the same time promote the community in the region. With a dense program and many ways to participate, the district game festival in Köngen will surely be another sporty highlight for young talents.
