The youth local council in Sindelfingen recently completed its elections and the results show a remarkable turnout. Krzbb reports that Mayor Bernd Vöhringer congratulated the newly elected youth councilors and saw the voter turnout of 67 percent as an expression of the great interest in the political participation of young people.

Szbz reports, that close to 3,000 young people actively voted, meaning that the actual voter turnout was around 72.01 percent.

Acceptance of the election and upcoming exam

As usual, the elected members must accept their election in writing. The new youth council will start with a retreat weekend in the last weekend of June, where they will get to know each other, train each other and put the first topics on the agenda. The cooperation between teachers, school social work and students was highlighted as positive by Robin Aniobi from the youth office. He has been the city's new youth representative since May 1, 2023.

The diversity of candidacies reflects the commitment of the young people. The elected members include not only new faces, but also experienced representatives. The newly elected include Ceyda Aytekin, Elias Bachmann and Elif Zeynep Baș. In addition, the election also lists candidates such as Goran Brnjaković and Noah Gadomski. The comprehensive list of young people chosen shows the diversity of their interests and concerns.

Voter turnout and challenges

The local electoral administration is pleased to note that, despite challenges such as a sub-optimal number of candidacies at some schools, interest in political participation is high. Szbz highlights, that turnout varied significantly at different schools, which could be due to different factors.

Overall, the election shows a positive trend towards political participation among youth in Sindelfingen and gives young people a platform to raise their voices in the city and have an influence. The city welcomes this commitment and is counting on the future ideas and impulses of the new youth council.
