Complete closure of Panzerstrasse: diversions from June 27, 2025!

Current traffic disruptions in Böblingen are occurring due to an upcoming new bridge being built on Panzerstrasse. This will affect the K1057 and will result in a full closure starting on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. and lasting until Monday, June 30, 2025, at 3:00 a.m. The closed route extends over a length of 7 meters and affects the core town of Böblingen and the nearby tank barracks. The new building is part of comprehensive renovation work that is intended to improve the traffic situation in the region [news.de].

Diversion recommendations are already signposted to offer alternative routes for both cars and trucks. The diversions lead along numerous streets, including Stuttgarter Straße, Friedrich-List-Straße and Wolfgang-Brumme-Allee. Overall, the following routes are planned:

  • Panzerstraße
  • Stuttgarter Straße
  • Friedrich-List-Straße
  • Wolfgang-Brumme-Allee
  • Poststraße
  • Brunnenstraße
  • Schönaicher Straße
  • Böblinger Straße
  • Bahnhofstraße
  • Rückkehr zur Panzerstraße

Additional construction sites and traffic restrictions

The traffic situation is also influenced by other construction sites in Böblingen. Wolf-Hirth-Straße has been completely closed since May 26th until June 20th, 2025 due to a power connection for the airfield clinic and renovation of the road surface. However, pedestrians can pass safely because appropriate diversions have been set up, as the City of Böblingen confirms.

In addition, Talstrasse and Ulmenweg will also be affected by traffic disruptions. While Talstraße is partially closed until June 23rd, Ulmenweg remains completely closed until June 9th. These construction activities serve to renew water and power lines and are carried out for the same reason as the work on Panzerstrasse.

Long-term infrastructure projects

In addition to these short-term measures, there are extensive construction projects in Böblingen, including the renovation of Schönaicher Straße “Nord”, which will be completely closed in three construction phases for seven months from June 2, 2025. Future traffic plans also envisage an expansion of the A 81 and further demolition work, which will significantly change the traffic infrastructure in the coming months.

The comprehensive construction work, no matter how different it may be, aims to improve the quality of traffic in Böblingen and ensure that all road users can use the necessary diversions without any problems. The Baden-Württemberg Road Traffic Center will regularly inform citizens about developments. It remains to be hoped that the measures will lead to a positive improvement in the traffic situation in the region, both in the short and long term.
