New criminal police chief Böskens: Experience for Böblingen and Ludwigsburg!
The senior criminal director Achim Böskens has taken over the leadership of the Böblingen criminal police department. At 52 years old, he brings with him extensive experience from his previous career in the police service. Böskens began his career in 1993 at the Police University in Villingen-Schwenningen and studied at the German Police University in Münster, where he graduated in 2007. His previous positions spanned various criminal police departments in Baden-Württemberg, which gave him a wide range of knowledge and skills.
From 2007 to 2011 he was head of Criminal Investigation Department 2 at the former Göppingen Police Department before moving to the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office (LKA). In 2018 he took over the management of several criminal investigation departments at the Stuttgart police headquarters and only became head of the criminal investigation department at the Ludwigsburg police headquarters in August 2025. The official inauguration in Böblingen took place on September 25, 2025. Thomas Wild, the head of the Ludwigsburg police headquarters, praised Böskens as a highly competent colleague and emphasized his in-depth experience in the upper and higher police service.
The structure of the new management
The Böblingen Criminal Investigation Department has an important responsibility as it is responsible for the Ludwigsburg and Böblingen districts. Under Böskens' leadership, the directorate includes eight criminal inspections at four locations as well as the Ludwigsburg Criminal Investigation Department. In total, he is responsible for around 380 employees who work in these areas.
The decision in favor of Böskens appears to be a smart step in order to master the challenges of fighting crime in the region even more effectively. His extensive experience will certainly contribute to improving the security situation and increasing citizens' trust in the police.
