But this daring step meant that he did not maintain the necessary lateral safety distance from an 85-year-old electric tricycle driver. The unsuspecting senior citizen was frightened, lost control of his vehicle and fell headfirst into the grass verge. The tragedy began when the 23-year-old was transported to a clinic in a rescue helicopter after the catastrophic fall. Despite the doctors' best efforts, they were unable to prevent the young man from later succumbing to his injuries.
