The driver underwent surgery on his lumbar vertebra at the Wagner Jauregg Hospital as scheduled on Tuesday. According to the team, the operation went well and Johannes was transferred from the intensive care unit to a normal ward on Wednesday.
The last few days have been both physically and mentally challenging for Johannes Klein. Despite the post-operative painkillers he was given, he was unable to rest. He tried to read the numerous messages and partially answer them, but it was too much for him. His partner said that all the news and attention gave him strength, but that he wanted to focus his energy on himself, his rehabilitation and his family in the next week or two.
