XXL orchestra inspires in Hildrizhausen: A concert of superlatives!
The eagerly awaited finale of the XXL orchestra took place in Hildrizhausen on May 17, 2025. The fully occupied Schönbuchhalle was the scene of a musical highlight that captivated not only the local musicians but also numerous guests. Several orchestras performed under the direction of Andrej Baumgard, including the HCS Zuffenhausen-Stammheim, the HHS Schafhausen and the Möhringer Accordion Orchestra accordimento.
The concert began with students from the Melidoca classes and the accordion group at the Schönbuchschule. In addition to these talented young musicians, the HC-Hildrizhausen student orchestra presented three impressive musical contributions that thrilled the audience. Particularly noteworthy is Felix Holder, who shone with his performance of “Libertango” by Astor Piazolla and played an encore.
A varied program
The XXL orchestra, consisting of over 50 players and seven basses, offered a diverse program. The selection of pieces ranged from classical to pop and included, among others:
- „Die glorreichen Sieben“
- „In der Halle des Bergkönigs“
- „Ghostbusters“
- „Watermelon Man“
- „Jazzpolice“
- „Unsquare Dance“
- Variationen über Beethovens „Ode an die Freude“
- „The Legend of King Arthur“
The concert was performed a total of four times at different locations, including another date in Stuttgart on February 1, 2025. This concert took place in the Möhringer Bürgerhaus and was also conducted by Andrej Baumgard. In the weeks after the Hildrizhausen concert, there were further performances by the orchestra, including in Zuffenhausen on March 23rd and in Schafhausen on April 5th, 2025, as accordimento.de reports.
Thanks and conclusion
The crowning conclusion of the evening were the encores, including the well-known “Cantina Band” and a jaunty “Good evening, good night,” which moved the audience to an enthusiastic standing ovation. A special thank you went to all the helpers who actively helped organize and hold the concert. The event was not only a musical celebration, but also proof of the high quality and great commitment of the musicians in the region.
The response to the performances was consistently positive, and the organizers hope to be able to implement similar projects in the future. Further events in the field of accordion music are already being planned, as akkordeon.online indicates.
