Waldkirchen launches senior mobile: More quality of life for older people!

The new Waldkirchner senior mobile was presented today. The initiative came from Margarete Aigner, who works for the district Caritas association. Senior citizen representative Renate Cerny took up the project and implemented it together with the “Seniorenhilfe Lichtblick”, the Senior Citizens AG and the city of Waldkirchen. The official presentation of the vehicle took place in front of the town hall and in the foyer of the town hall to explain to the general public the advantages of this new offer. PNP reports that the senior mobile aims to offer older people a better quality of life.

The Waldkirchner senior mobile is not only a means of transport, but also an important part of the social participation of older people. Assistance in the form of transportation can make it easier for many seniors to access medical appointments, shopping, and social activities. This is particularly important as many older people in rural areas struggle with mobility problems. This offer has the potential to significantly increase the quality of life of users.

Background to helping seniors Bright spot

The “Seniorenhilfe Lichtblick” is an association that was founded in 2003 by Lydia Staltner. Her aim was to help needy older people in Munich and the surrounding area. A look at reality shows that 80% of people affected by poverty in old age are women. This fact is strongly linked to lower earnings and frequent part-time work. The Munich 2022 Poverty Report, which comprises 343 pages, shows the great need for action in this area. car fleet reports that LichtBlick provides financial support for everyday needs in order to support people in their quality of life.

The mobility project “Mobility in Old Age” is one of the numerous initiatives of the LichtBlick Foundation, which was founded in 2017. This foundation's mission is to provide long-term support and address the far-reaching problems of poverty in old age. As part of this project, cars are financed and handed over to municipalities that organize transport services for seniors. There are currently eight cars in use and five more requests are being processed. Volunteer drivers help get seniors to appointments and activities.

The positive response from communities and from the users themselves underlines the benefits of these mobility offers. Especially in times when applications for support have increased - increased by the corona pandemic and the war in Ukraine - the need for such projects is becoming increasingly clear. Senior Aid Lichtblick and the foundation continue to look for support in order to be able to maintain and expand these valuable offerings.
