Wreath Day in Schönbrunn: Colorful procession and festive atmosphere!

In Schönbrunn am Lusen, the traditional “Wreath Day” was celebrated on the Sunday after Corpus Christi. This event is an integral part of Catholic life in the region and attracts large numbers of believers. The focus of the festival is the procession in which the “transformed bread” is presented in the monstrance, which represents a central point in the Catholic faith. The [Passauer Neue Presse](https://www.pnp.de/lokales/landkreis-freyung-grafenau/kranzltag-ge Feiert-18917732) reports on the festive mood that filled the entire village.

The service was accompanied musically by the “Die Schönbrunner” brass band and Barbara Richter, who played the organ. Pastor David Savarimuthu gave an impressive sermon in which he discussed the significance of Corpus Christi and invited the congregation to take part in the procession. Appropriately, the first communion children took the opportunity to take part in the service in their festive albums, which gave the event a special touch.

Festive procession through the village

The procession was an impressive event that took place in the best summer weather. According to Pfarrverband Hohenau, the procession moved colorfully through the village while the brass band led the participants. The blessing was given with the monstrance at four places in town, underlining the solemn nature of the event.

Families from the community, including the Einberger, Poxleitner, Königseder and Pertler families, were actively involved in organizing the festival and built altars. Lectors such as Gertraud Mader and Sophie Schuster presented readings and intercessions that focused on the concerns of the believers.

Community conclusion of the wreath day

The event ended after just over two hours with the installation of the Blessed Sacrament and the common song “Great God”. Pastor Savarimuthu again addressed the gathering and emphasized the community that is strengthened through such celebrations. Even though a strong easterly wind posed a challenge for the flag bearers, this did not dampen the celebratory spirit of the participants.

The Wreath Day in Schönbrunn am Lusen impressively shows how traditions are kept alive in the Catholic community and promote cohesion. Such festivals are not only religious events, but also opportunities to strengthen the village community and celebrate shared values.
