On May 25, 2025, the eagerly awaited prom for the tenth grade of the Freyung State Secondary School took place in the festively decorated Atrium-Haidl in Röhrnbach. This event, which was finally realized after a long planning phase due to changing Corona requirements, attracted around 400 guests, including many parents, who reacted to the ceremonial entry of the 39 dance couples with tears of joy and applause. The band “Turnaround” provided musical accompaniment throughout the evening and opened the event with upbeat melodies.
The students showcased their dancing skills in various performances that included dances such as the Viennese Waltz, Cha-Cha-Cha and Discofox. As part of the ball, the young dancers not only had the opportunity to show off their skills, but also to take part in the dance competition, in which 18 couples competed.
Dance competition and honors
The jury, consisting of school principal Ursula Stegbauer-Hötzl, teachers Alexandra Rahm, Anna-Katharina Ebenbeck, Matthias Schubert and Lucas Klosterhuber, honored the best dancers. The bronze medal went to Anna Friedsam and Johannes Kerschbaum, while Sarah Saibold and Julian Kainz won the silver medal. The title couple for Dancing Queen and Dancing King was Laura Weigersdorfer and David Eckerl, who thrilled the audience with their performances. Another highlight of the evening was the award ceremony for the winners, which was presented by school principal Stegbauer-Hötzl and the teachers. She also thanked the dance teacher Bianca Steinecker-Heller and the organizer Alexandra Rahm for their commitment.
It became particularly emotional during the speech by the headmistress, who thanked the parents for their support and praised the beautiful tradition of the prom. The highlight of the evening was the final dance by all couples, which created an unforgettable atmosphere with lots of applause.
An unforgettable evening
The guests were not only offered a lot in terms of dancing; The supporting program with shows also provided the best entertainment. At midnight, a group of students presented a rousing choreography to ABBA songs, which received huge applause from the audience. Overall, the organizers and participants received consistently positive feedback, making the ball an unforgettable highlight of the school days.
The Freyung secondary school's prom was not only a beautiful celebration of the end of the school year, but also a valuable reminder of indelible moments of community and togetherness during school time.
