ADFC after-work tours: cycling despite the clouds over Böblingen!
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, an exciting after-work tour of the ADFC took place under the leadership of Astrid, a trained ADFC tour guide. At 7:00 p.m. the participants went to the Hulb S-Bahn station. Despite threatening cloud cover, eight passionate cyclists were ready to set out on a 27 kilometer route.
The group traveled at an average speed of around 10 mph and chose a varied route. This led over the cycle highway towards Ehningen and then on the sculpture cycle path to Hildrizhausen. Along the way, participants encountered some scenic views, including the Sommertalweiher, before circling toward Altdorf. The way back took them past the golf club near Weil im Schönbuch and back to Böblingen via Holzgerlingen. The group reached their destination around 8:45 p.m.
Invitation to the after-work tours
The ADFC after-work tours take place every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Those interested are warmly invited to take part. ADFC membership is not mandatory, and both pedilecs and muscle bikes are welcome. Road safety
When cycling, it is important to act situationally and defensively, as cyclists and pedestrians are unprotected road users. According to kreis-boeblingen.adfc.de, cyclists need an increased level of mindfulness in road traffic. It is recommended to be confident but still drive carefully. Turns should be announced by hand signals in order to be predictable for other road users.
It is also crucial to keep your distance from trucks, vans and municipal vehicles, as their drivers are often unaware of cyclists. Accidents can occur particularly when turning, which is why all road users should follow the applicable traffic rules to ensure their own safety and that of others.
