Burglary alarm in Maichingen: Police are investigating after a company robbery!
A company was broken into in the industrial area of Maichingen between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning. Unknown perpetrators forcibly gained access to a building on Maybachstrasse by prying open an office door. Despite the attempted break-in, no loot was made. The material damage caused is estimated at around 1,000 euros. The Maichingen police are investigating and examining a possible connection to a similar break-in in Magstadt that took place at the same time. If you have any relevant information, witnesses can contact the police by telephone or email. This information comes from the Stuttgart News.
In the context of the increasing number of burglaries in Germany, another incident is reported from Schwelm. There was a break-in at a jewelry store there on February 7, 2025. The perpetrators, two people, drove a car in front of the shop window, tore out the external roller shutter and damaged the window. They stole jewelry, but then fled in the vehicle with their loot. Thanks to an attentive witness, the police were able to intervene quickly and arrest a 21-year-old perpetrator while the second fled. The investigation is ongoing and the responsible police station has already initiated the first search measures.
Current burglary statistics
The slump statistics for 2024 show that this trend is not limited to these two cases. In 2023, there were a total of 77,819 residential burglaries in Germany, which corresponds to an increase of around 18 percent compared to the previous year. On average, 213 burglaries occurred every day. The economic consequences are also significant: the average damage per burglary was 3,500 euros, resulting in a total loss of 340 million euros, according to the statistical analysis shows.
A typical feature of burglaries is that the doors are often forced open. This method is particularly common in Germany, while opportunistic thieves also play a major role: around 80 percent of burglaries are carried out by these perpetrators. The number of burglaries is particularly higher in large cities such as North Rhine-Westphalia than in rural regions. Police and security authorities therefore recommend preventive measures, such as structural and mechanical security solutions, to effectively counteract such incidents.
