Exemplary building: Exhibition shows architecture in Böblingen!
The exhibition “Exemplary Building” will be on display in the foyer of the New Town Hall in Böblingen from October 1, 2025. It presents the 17 construction projects that were recognized for their outstanding quality by the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects in 2024. This prestigious honor is given annually to promising construction projects in the country, with 59 works submitted and 17 of them received the award, as [krzbb.de].
The official celebrations for the opening of the exhibition begin at 5:30 p.m. with a ceremony at which Mayor Christine Kraayvanger will also speak. The exhibition itself will be open until October 31, 2025 and can be visited at specific times: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Selected projects in the exhibition
Among the awarded projects are notable construction projects such as the nursing home on Mühlstrasse in Altdorf and the Protestant community centers in Renningen and Weil im Schönbuch. The road maintenance department in Magstadt is also part of this selection. In addition, several private construction projects were honored that make an important contribution to the building culture in the Böblingen district.
This traveling exhibition has already passed through stops in Herrenberg and Leonberg and is intended to raise public awareness of high-quality architecture and building culture. The “Exemplary Building” award process is carried out regularly in 42 chamber groups in Baden-Württemberg and aims to reward small and everyday construction projects that reflect society's self-image, as baukultur-bw.de points out.
Architecture as an educational mission
In addition to the competition, “Architecture Day” is held annually, offering free sightseeing tours to the public. The “Architecture Makes School” initiative is aimed at children and young people with the aim of promoting building culture education. The focus is particularly on the development and design of living spaces that are both functional and aesthetically appealing.
These measures are intended not only to improve the quality of the structural implementation, but also to create long-term awareness among the population of the importance of good architecture and urban planning. The Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects has been promoting these goals since 1993 and attaches particular importance to the documented works that are recorded in the “Exemplary Building” database.
