Renovation of Pfistergasse in Altdorf: traffic chaos until October 2025!
The municipality of Altdorf began the comprehensive renovation of Pfistergasse today, June 23, 2025. This project, which will last over the summer, is organized in several stages and is expected to be completed by October 2025. The renovation is necessary to completely renew the superstructure of the road in the section between Gründligasse and Blumenfeldgasse, which also includes replacing the water pipes and replacing the sludge collectors to ensure road drainage. How nau.ch reported, traffic disruptions and total closures in specific areas are to be expected throughout the renovation work.
The renovation work officially begins with the first stage, which lasts from June 30 to July 25, 2025. The second stage is planned for the period from August 11, 2025 to probably the beginning of October 2025. During these construction phases, certain road sections will be completely closed, but access for residents will be guaranteed. These take place alternately via Blumenfeldgasse or Gründligasse. The construction management and the responsible construction company have promised to inform the affected residents early and directly about upcoming restrictions.
Traffic disruptions and information
The municipality and the companies carrying out the work have announced that diversions will be clearly and visibly signalled. In a statement, the municipality also expressed its desire to keep the disruption to traffic as low as possible and would like to thank road users in advance for their understanding during this time. This is particularly important as similar projects in the past, such as the renovation of Gründligasse in 2014, were also associated with significant traffic disruptions.
