Fire brigade in action: hotel guest lights flame and flees!
On Sunday evening, June 8, 2025, the fire department was called to a hotel in Altdorf in the Landshut district. The operation was triggered by an inexperienced hotel guest who poured water into a pan filled with hot oil while cooking, resulting in a dangerous flash fire. This was reported by idowa. The smoke detector of the fire alarm system blared shortly after 6 p.m., acknowledging the emergency call from the concerned guests.
The fire and police forces were quickly on site. Surprisingly, it turned out that there was no real fire, just a temporary flare-up caused by improper cooking. The hotel guest responsible for the incident fled the building when the alarm was triggered and was not initially identified.
Escape and investigation
However, the police were able to quickly identify the guest who had fled and later caught him. Proceedings are now being initiated against him for an administrative offense. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident, neither among the guests nor among the staff. The material damage caused is estimated to be minor, as wochenblatt reported.
In recent years, similar incidents in hotels have highlighted the importance of training staff and guests in the use of cooking equipment. The rapid response of the fire brigade and police prevented more serious consequences and shows the effectiveness of the emergency response in the region.
