Blitz marathon in Villingen-Schwenningen: Where there are controls today!

In Villingen-Schwenningen there are currently speed controls at two locations to increase traffic safety and reduce speeding. Loud news.de The control locations are dynamically adjusted, as the danger situation in road traffic can constantly change.

The mobile speed cameras are currently on the B 523 in Mühlhausen with a speed limit of 80 km/h and on Weilersbacher Straße, where 70 km/h is permitted. These measurement points were last updated on June 23, 2025. Speeding is one of the most common causes of accidents in Germany, as the road traffic regulations (StVO) stipulate. Mobile flash units, which typically only flash in one direction, use a variety of technologies, including radar and laser-based systems.

New enforcement trailer being planned

The city of Villingen-Schwenningen is planning to purchase a third mobile speed camera to further improve traffic safety. The local council voted for the new speed camera trailer with 18 yes votes, 15 no votes and two abstentions. This reports suedkurier.de.

The new enforcement trailer will be used at various locations, including Schwenninger Marktplatz and Schwenninger Steig, which is not considered an accident hotspot but has recorded two serious accidents in the past. There were heated arguments in the discussion about the purchase, as some city councilors expressed concerns that the city might want to make money from the speed cameras. The head of the citizen's office made it clear that safety was the priority and that revenue from fines was not sought.

Flexibility and security in focus

The new mobile speed camera will not require direct personnel and has its own power supply. The purchase is not expected to take place until 2026 to ensure that the safety of all road users is maintained. The previous mobile speed cameras are not hidden either, but there are no flashing lights on the trailers.

Especially in the Villingen inner ring, speeding is often observed, often exceeding 100 km/h in a 30 km/h zone. These measures should help to sustainably increase traffic safety in Villingen-Schwenningen in the future.
