City rail chaos in Stuttgart: U6, U13 and U16 paralyzed for a week!
Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB) is informing about an important interruption in light rail traffic in Stuttgart-Feuerbach. From June 16th to June 22nd, 2025, the light rail service between Feuerbach Bahnhof and Feuerbach Pfostenwäldle will be stopped due to renovation measures. These measures include the necessary rail replacement and the installation of new contact line masts, which are essential for the maintenance and improvement of the route network, such as Stuttgarter News reported.
The light rail lines U6, U13 and U16 are affected by this work. During the interruption, the U6 will be separated into two parts: the northern section runs from Gerlingen to Feuerbach Pfostenwäldle, while the southern section runs between the airport/trade fair and Feuerbach train station. During this time, getting off and on at the Feuerbach Pfostenwäldle and Feuerbach Bahnhof stops is only possible on the platform facing out of town. In addition, the Wilhelm-Geiger-Platz, Föhrich and Sportpark Feuerbach stops will no longer be available.
Replacement traffic and diversions
The U13 will be diverted from Pragsattel to the Zuffenhausen Kelterplatz stop. The Maybachstrasse, Feuerbach Bahnhof, Wilhelm-Geiger-Platz, Föhrich and Sportpark Feuerbach stops will no longer be available. The U16 will be completely removed from the schedule throughout the week. To bridge the restrictions, a replacement rail service with buses will be set up. The buses on the U6E line connect Feuerbach train station directly with Feuerbach Pfostenwäldle, as SSB further explains.
In addition, track construction work will take place in Stuttgart-Mönchfeld in the week before the interruption from June 7th to June 15th, 2025. The U7 will only run between Ostfildern Nellingen and Suttnerstraße. Here too, replacement buses (line U7E) were set up between Himmelsleiter and Mönchfeld. The SSB asks all passengers to use the electronic timetable information to find out about current timetable changes and connection options before starting their journey.
