Unknown helper: 31-year-old robbed at the train station in Winnenden!

On Tuesday, June 18, 2025, a brazen theft occurred at the train station in Winnenden, Rems-Murr district. At around 11:15 a.m., a 31-year-old woman fell victim to an unknown perpetrator while boarding the Metropolexpress towards Waiblingen. The man initially kindly offered to help the woman by holding the door open for her, which makes the situation appear suspicious as he was thereby gaining access to her property unnoticed.

After the woman got on the train, she noticed that her cell phone, which had previously been in her trouser pocket, was missing. The description of the perpetrator is as follows: The man is said to be around 40 years old and around 1.80 meters tall. He had short, dark hair and was wearing blue jeans and an orange T-shirt. Despite the state and federal police being immediately alerted, the suspect could no longer be apprehended.

Call for witnesses to come forward

The federal police have called on the public to provide information about the incident or the person described. Witnesses are asked to call 0711/870350. It has been found that pickpockets often take advantage of other people's distractions to steal valuables without being noticed. The police therefore recommend keeping valuables close to your body, especially in crowds, to avoid similar incidents in the future.

Given the repeated reports of pickpocketing in the region, there is a growing awareness of the dangers that can arise from such a straightforward offer of help. It seems that this type of crime not only highlights criminality, but also the need to exercise increased caution.
