A 34-year-old man from Ukraine is currently standing before the Stuttgart regional court, where he has to answer for a series of arson attacks. According to the ZVW he has already admitted three fires on Albertviller Strasse. However, the investigation continues as it is being examined whether he is also responsible for other fires on Steinweg.
A revealing photo shows the suspect with a small boy on his shoulders during a late-night fire alarm that ripped residents from their beds. The man was arrested shortly after one such incident in which he is said to have set a dormitory on fire.
Previous offenses and prison sentences
The situation of the man from Ukraine is reminiscent of another case of arson in the region. In May 2019, a 38-year-old man in Kirchardt was convicted of three counts of attempted murder and arson. The fires affected, among other things, a shed and several cars, and there was a risk that the flames could spread to neighboring homes.

The investigations into both cases show the dangers posed by arson. Affected communities are under pressure to ensure safety due to such repeated incidents. This poses a significant risk for residents, causing not only material damage but also physical danger.
