Amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Murr Valley, this event will be an unforgettable adventure full of colorful activities, delicious treats and magical sights during the guided tours, which start at 1 p.m.!
Insights into the historic castle
The history of this castle is nothing short of fascinating: Built between 1225 and 1231 by Margrave Hermann V of Baden, the castle sits majestically and unshakably on a hill almost 100 meters above the landscape with meter-thick shield walls and a towering keep that once served as a refuge during attacks. A true masterpiece that has stood the test of time! The chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas houses 15th century frescoes and amazes visitors! This castle is considered the best-preserved Romanesque castle in the Rems-Murr district - a cultural jewel!
But that's not all! During the castle tours, brave souls can visit the battlement, the keep and even the dark dungeon where the evildoers were once held prisoner! This is a shocking journey into the shadows of the past that you shouldn't miss!
An interplay of enjoyment and history
The castle café is run by the Pauline care and committed local associations. Visitors can look forward to freshly baked cakes, aromatic coffee and refreshing drinks - all lovingly served by the creative minds of the Murrtal School Oppenweiler! A feast for the senses in a breathtaking ambience!
The cost of the castle tours? A negligible price of 4 euros for adults, 2 euros for children and just 10 euros for families! What an incredible bargain for such an exclusive experience! But be careful: due to strict security regulations, the number of visitors is limited and there may be longer waiting times - it's worth being quick!
Arrival and further information
Getting to the castle is not rocket science! Despite the lack of parking options directly at the castle, we recommend using the Rewe parking lot in Oppenweiler or relying on public transport. The Oppenweiler train station and the bus line 390 take you directly to the Reichenberg stop!
