On November 2nd, 2025, the association league handball players from HC Oppenweiler/Backnang (HCOB) competed against the undefeated league leaders SG Hegensberg/Liebersbronn. The encounter ended in a clear defeat for the HCOB women, who left the field with a final score of 25:34. This was not only a setback in the current season, but also a demonstration of the dominance of Hegensberg/Liebersbronn, who remain without a loss point after this game.
The HCOB women started the game promisingly and even led by four goals (10:6, 13:9). They showed a strong defensive performance against the opponent's backcourt players, especially in the first half. Nevertheless, the hosts managed to reduce the HCOB's lead shortly before half-time by making a defensive change to make it 3-3. This change caused HCOB to fall behind for the first time.
Dominance of the hostesses
In the second half, the superiority of SG Hegensberg/Liebersbronn became clear. Within a short period of time they scored ten consecutive goals, impressively showing their attacking strength. HCOB had difficulty holding their own against the hosts' strong offensive defense of 6-0, which led to numerous goals being conceded.
HCOB coach Sebastian Blocher said after the game that the result was okay. He praised the first half and emphasized that this performance should be taken into the next game against the bottom of the table TSV Alfdorf-Lorch-Waldhausen.
