SCANDAL on the Buocher Höhe: Wind power project causes trouble!
WIND POWER SCANDAL on the Buocher Höhe! In a shocking turning point in regional energy policy, the city of Waiblingen is planning to build wind turbines in an area that has been at the center of heated controversy for years! The Stuttgart Region Association has included the RM 35 area as a priority area in the regional plan, and the hopes for sustainable energy production in the future seem almost tangible. Building mayor Dieter Schienmann described this development as “pleasant” – but are these the right words in times when resistance to wind power is becoming ever louder?
Citizens have until August 1st to submit comments on these controversial plans. The pressure on the regional assembly is becoming enormous, because the decision on the fate of wind power construction could soon be made! Due to explosive conflicts and the fact that it is an exclave of Waiblingen, the community of Korb is in the middle of a political storm. CDU city councilor Hans-Ingo von Pollern asked: How are the neighbors reacting to this explosive situation?
RESISTANCE or FULL ATTACK?
The discussion about wind power on the Buocher Höhe is not just an issue today - there have already been violent protests in the past. In the 2010s, the “Protect the Buocher Höhe” association was formed, which vehemently rejected the plans. In 2018 the topic finally seemed to have disappeared from the agenda, but then the sensational revival in 2022! According to the law, the construction of wind turbines in landscape protection areas is now possible, and the waves continue to rise.
But before the wind turbines can actually turn, the technical and economic conditions must be put to the test! The city has already carried out wind measurements at two locations, which showed an average wind speed of 6 m/s. These numbers made environmentalists sit up and take notice - how will they react?
DEPARTURE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT OR DISASTER?
The situation is getting worse: an adjacent, smaller wind power priority area, RM 19, was deleted from the regional plan because the distance to residential buildings was considered too small. Will a similar fate happen to Buocher Höhe? What impact will this have on the neighboring community of Korb?
And that's not all! Future ground-mounted PV systems are also being considered in the regional plans. The updated regional plan includes site-specific information for these new energy sources. The PV-05 area will remain unchanged, PV-04 will be enlarged, while PV-07 will be reduced due to biotope concerns. If there were griffins or the famous “great white shark” haunting the area, environmentalists could sit back and relax – but is this really the case?
There are currently no new developments at the former Erbach landfill, and an area near Kleinhegnach was excluded because it is in close proximity to a protected area. So is wind power now falling into the trap of approval problems and distraction?
The cards in the renewable energy game are being reshuffled, and the race for sustainable energy is just beginning! This is the turning point for Waiblingen and the entire region!
Follow the situation closely - the next few weeks could be the fateful week for wind power in Waiblingen and Korb! Will the big hit succeed or will everything turn into a heated scandal?
