Serious rear-end collision on A81: Driver trapped and injured!
On Monday evening there was a serious traffic accident on the A81 motorway between Ludwigsburg-Süd and Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. The accident occurred at 7:00 p.m. when a 33-year-old van driver collided with a tractor-trailer on the temporarily cleared shoulder. According to Tixio, the driver was trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by rescue workers.
The impact was so violent that the van spun across several lanes of traffic and finally crashed into the central barrier. While the 43-year-old truck driver into whom the van crashed was uninjured, the emergency services found signs of alcohol in the van driver. His driver's license was confiscated. The material damage to the vehicles amounts to around 38,000 euros.
Consequences of the accident
The recovery work after the accident led to a partial closure of the motorway for almost two hours, causing a backlog of around twelve kilometers. The shoulder and two right lanes were closed until 8:45 p.m. The police, emergency services, fire brigade and highway maintenance department were involved in the operations.
The statistical recording of such incidents is important for road safety in general. As Destatis notes, the data is used to analyze the causes of accidents and to develop measures in the areas of legislation, traffic education, road construction and vehicle technology. The information obtained is crucial for understanding accident patterns and making evidence-based decisions in transport policy.
Road traffic accident statistics include comprehensive details about accidents, the people and vehicles involved, and the specific causes of accidents. This enables a nationwide comparable analysis of the traffic safety situation and supports infrastructure and traffic safety policy.
