Turn-Klubb Hannover takes over all-day care in Hemmingen schools!

From the 2025/2026 school year, the Turn-Klubb Hannover will take over all-day care at three primary schools in Hemmingen. The city of Hemmingen is thus withdrawing from this responsibility. The first registrations have already taken place and show great interest on the part of parents: 261 children have registered for the all-day program at the Arnum primary school, 197 children at the Hemmingen-Westerfeld primary school and 87 children at the Hiddestorf primary school. Overall, these are consistently high registration numbers, with a share of up to 81% at the Hiddestorf primary school, where the participation rate is highest. The option to register remains via the website stadthemmingen.de exist, but not all wishes for working groups can be guaranteed.

The Turn-Klubb Hannover plans to work closely with various local institutions, including the Hemmingen music school and the SC Hemmingen-Westerfeld, in order to guarantee the children a varied afternoon offering. The innovations also include the introduction of a special app that is intended to be used for organization and communication throughout the day. However, an exact launch date for the app has not yet been set.

Staggered process and offers

All-day care is expected to be free of charge, although parents will have to pay for a hot lunch if they wish. The care includes a structured process: early care begins at 7:00 a.m., followed by regular school operations until 12:55 p.m. After lunch together, the children start the leisure and learning activities at 1 p.m. Working groups (AGs) take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with two set pick-up times.

There is also a special organization for students in years 1 to 4 that allows them to express three wishes for working groups. Changing offers is only possible after two trial hours. This structured approach is designed to ensure children can both learn and play.

Background and further developments

The switch to the Turn-Klubb Hannover is taking place as part of the upcoming legal regulation, which provides for a free all-day offer for all primary school students from August 2026. This new education policy is expected to lead to a higher demand for full-time care, which is already evident. Current studies show that 470,000 additional childcare places are needed nationwide to meet the ongoing demand, as 55% of all primary school students are now enrolled in all-day schools or day care facilities. The federal government supports the expansion of such offers through an investment program of 3.5 billion euros bmfsfj.de reported.

In summary, it can be said that the Turn-Klubb Hannover, with its first-class experience in looking after over 2000 children in the state capital, will make its contribution to the design of a dynamic and creative all-day program. The Hemmingen City Council has already approved the cooperation agreement with the club, which is a positive development for everyone involved.
