Big cinema festival: Experience How to Tame a Dragon before the premiere!

Next June 13th is expected to premiere the live-action adaptation of the popular animated film “Jak wytresować smoka” (How to Train a Dragon), based on the bestselling series by Cressida Cowell. This news has already caused excitement among fans who have been waiting for this moment for a long time. The previous animated films, which debuted in 2010 and grossed a total of over $1.6 billion at the global box office, remain popular to this day and have built a loyal fan base. The first film, which was also nominated for two Oscars, represents a crucial turning point for the animated film landscape.

The story revolves around Czkawka, the son of a Viking leader, and his unconventional friendship with the dragon Szczerbatek. This relationship undermines the centuries-old enmity between Vikings and dragons and shows that the initial prejudices are far from reality. In the previous films, viewers have witnessed Czkawka's development from a shy boy to a courageous dragon friend.

Pioneering work in animated film history

“Jak wytresować smoka” not only established itself as a box office hit, but also spawned a series of three films, released in 2010, 2014 and 2019 respectively. The film's animation style and impressive music, both directed by Dean DeBlois, contributed significantly to its success. The main characters, including Czkawka, played by Mason Thames, and the Viking ancestor, played by Gerard Butler, are a central element of the story.

Cressida Cowell's book series, on which the film is based, comprises a total of thirteen volumes and tells of the adventures of the Viking generations, which were also led by dragons. The plot focuses on the young Halibut Straszliwa Czkawka Trzeci, who befriends a tame dragon named Osesek. This friendship has not only personal but also social implications for Czkawka's community.

Looking forward to the premiere

In preparation for the upcoming film release, preview screenings are already planned for June 7th and 8th in the Cinema-City, Multikina and Heliosa cinemas as well as in selected cinemas in Poland. These screenings are apparently highly anticipated by fans as they provide an opportunity to experience the new visual interpretation of the Viking faces before the official theatrical release.
