175 years of Geislinger Steige: Nostalgic steam train rides await!
Geislingen an der Steige is preparing to celebrate a very special event: the 175th anniversary of the Geislinger Steige will be celebrated on June 28th and 29th, 2025. This anniversary honors one of Baden-Württemberg's most impressive engineering masterpieces, which has served as an important traffic artery in the region since its opening.
As part of the festival weekend, nostalgic steam train rides on the historic 5.7 kilometer long steep route are planned. This route, which is characterized by a gradient of 22.5 per mille and overcomes an altitude difference of 112 meters, attracts railway enthusiasts and families alike.
Nostalgic train rides
One of the highlights of the anniversary will be the use of historic locomotives. The trains are pulled by, among others, the legendary 58 311, the 97 501 and the so-called “crocodile”, the E 94 088. Train lovers have the opportunity to travel on these unique trains and experience the atmosphere of bygone times up close.
Tickets for the special trips are now available on the website www.steigerjubiläum.de and available at the tourist information center in the Old Customs. Due to expected high demand, it is recommended to secure tickets in advance.
