Donzdorf women fight bravely, but lose 2:3 against SGM!

On October 10, 2025, the women's team of 1. FC Donzdorf suffered a narrow 2:3 defeat against the SGM women in their fourth association league game. The match took place on a narrow artificial turf pitch, which left both teams struggling to find their rhythm. In the first 30 minutes the game was characterized by tough duels and imprecise passes, so that there were no clear chances to score. The hosts were able to take the lead in the 35th minute after a set piece, before Oppenweiler increased it to 2-0 shortly afterwards after a bad pass in Donzdorfer's build-up game led to the goal being conceded.

In the final phase of the first half, Donzdorf managed to score through Celine Weinhold and go into the break with a score of 1:2. After the half-time break, the team showed a significant increase in performance and repeatedly came dangerously in front of the hosts' goal. Nevertheless, the Oppenweiler girls were able to increase their score again in the 50th minute and make it 3-1, but that didn't discourage the Donzdorfers.

Catch-up and setback

The Donzdorf women showed their morale and scored 3-2 through Luisa in the 80th minute. This comeback could almost have been rewarded with an equalizer, but just three minutes later the inside post prevented a possible equalizer. Despite the defeat, 1. FC Donzdorf remains optimistic and takes positive aspects from the game.

The next challenge for the women's team will be next week, when the league leaders from Stuttgart await them in their home Lautertalstadion. This encounter is seen as pointing the way for the rest of the season and could be crucial for the Donzdorf team's self-confidence.
