TSV Bad Saulgau loses against Denkendorf: A bitter afternoon!

On Sunday, October 6th, 2025, TSV Bad Saulgau played in an important association league game against TSV Denkendorf, the only team in the league without losing points. Denkendorf is seen as a serious candidate for promotion. Despite their respect for their opponents, Bad Saulgau went into the game optimistically, even if they had to play without key players Matthias Fuchs and Jannik Beutter. Kick-off took place at 5 p.m. after a long journey of two hours.

The start of the game was difficult for the hosts. Bad Saulgau quickly fell behind 0-2, and even after 20 minutes the deficit remained between one and three goals. During this phase the team had to accept a few time penalties against Marco Weisser and Daniel Balan, but fought on bravely. Moritz Schnell, Patrick Fritz and Marc Kuttler scored important goals, with Kuttler equalizing to 10:10 in the 22nd minute. Bad Saulgau's fast-paced game bore fruitful fruit and ultimately led to a half-time lead of 13:10.

The second round didn't start well for Bad Saulgau. Denkendorf benefited from a 5-0 run and was able to take a 20:15 lead in the 40th minute. Bad Saulgau managed to shorten the gap to 17:20, but Niklas Gönner missed two important seven meters in this critical phase. Patrick Fritz, on the other hand, converted the following penalty throws, but was unable to decisively advance the comeback. Denkendorf didn't let Bad Saulgau get any closer and ultimately secured victory with a final score of 30:24.

The coach of TSV Bad Saulgau, Markus Weisser, was disappointed after the game about the missed opportunities and the partial mental absence of his team. Given the upcoming weeks without games, he plans to use this time to improve the team's defeats. Bad Saulgau's next game awaits on Saturday at 7 p.m. against TSV Betzingen.

TSV Denkendorf, on the other hand, can be satisfied with this third win of the season and is maintaining its lead in the association league for the time being. The handball players of TSV Neuhausen suffered a bitter defeat when they lost at home against HSG Langenau/Elchingen with 19:25. HSG Langenau/Elchingen is currently in sixth place in the table.

The league system in German handball has changed significantly this season under the German Handball Federation (DHB). From the 2024/25 season onwards, the leagues will be structured uniformly, with the Bundesliga being the top division. These include the 2nd Bundesliga and the 3rd League, which are divided regionally. The association leagues in which both TSV Bad Saulgau and TSV Denkendorf play are among the lowest leagues in this structure and are crucial for the development of young talent and teams on the way up.
