Waldenbuch celebrates Midsummer: Shopping Sunday on June 22nd!

On June 22, 2025, Waldenbuch will be the venue for the popular Midsummer city festival, which is combined with a shopping Sunday. From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., visitors have the opportunity to shop to their heart's content in the Kalkofen shopping center on Liebenaustraße and enjoy various offers and promotions. The event is organized by the Waldenbuch Trade and Commerce Association in collaboration with the city of Waldenbuch and offers a varied program for the whole family.

Numerous attractions are planned, including a large flea market, creative children's activities and bouncy castles. A musical highlight is the drum performance by the Waldenbuch Music School, which will take place at 2 p.m. If the weather is bad, the event will be moved to the local library. Physical well-being is also taken care of – visitors can look forward to a selection of food, drinks and refreshing ice cream. Special offerings from local vendors will also be available on the day, including Greek delicacies, hand-sewn children's clothing and freshly squeezed fruit juices.

Weather and arrival

The weather forecast for June 22, 2025 promises mostly clear conditions with temperatures of up to 31°C. These ideal conditions will certainly ensure a relaxed atmosphere during the festivities. To avoid overloading the parking spaces, the organizers recommend arriving on foot or by bike. Public transportation such as lines 828, 826 and X76 provide a convenient way to reach Waldenbuch. Parking should be avoided near the indoor swimming pool as the options there are limited.

A look into the past

Historically, shops were open every day until the end of the 19th century. With the designation of Sunday as a day of rest in 1919, retail has since been subject to certain regulations that only allow shops to open on Sundays in exceptional cases. In Baden-Württemberg, shops are open on three Sundays a year, with special exceptions for public holidays and in some municipalities.

In international comparison, the situation is different: In Greece, shops generally remain closed, although there are exceptions in tourist regions. In Poland, shops are allowed to open as long as Sunday does not fall on a public holiday, while in many Eastern European countries shop opening times can be decided by shop owners themselves. These regulations underline the diversity of approaches to Sunday opening in Europe.

The Midsummer City Festival in Waldenbuch on June 22, 2025 promises a varied experience for all participants. Further information is available on the [websites of news.de]. waldenbuch.de.
